Cookie Policy

Last reviewed: 14 February 2026 · Effective: 14 February 2026 · Version 1.2

01 — Introduction

What This Policy Covers

Kalnore Review is an independent editorial publication focused on yoga practice, daily stretching, and mindful movement. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies this publication uses, why they are placed on your device, and the options available to you for managing them.

This policy applies to the website operated at kalnore.info and all pages served from that domain. It is provided in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Summary: We use a small number of cookies. Most are for basic functionality. Analytics and preference cookies are only placed after you give your consent via the banner displayed on your first visit.

02 — What Cookies Are

Cookies: A Technical Note

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They allow a website to recognise your device on subsequent visits and to retain certain information about how you interact with the site.

Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot carry viruses. They cannot access other files on your device. A cookie typically stores a small identifier string and, where relevant, a timestamp indicating when it was set.

Cookies are distinct from local storage, session storage, and similar browser-based storage mechanisms, though this policy also covers those where applicable to Kalnore Review.

Cookies are classified by several properties:

  • Duration: Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until a specified expiry date or until deleted manually.
  • Origin: First-party cookies are set by kalnore.info directly. Third-party cookies are set by external services embedded in the site (e.g. analytics providers).
  • Purpose: Functional, analytics, preference, or marketing cookies — each described in the table below.

03 — Cookies We Use

Cookie Inventory

The following table documents the cookies currently in use on kalnore.info. This inventory is reviewed each time the publication undertakes a structural change to the site.

Cookie Name Type Duration Purpose Party
kr_consent Functional 12 months Records your cookie consent preference so the banner is not shown on every visit. First-party
kr_session Functional Session Maintains basic session state during your visit. Deleted when browser is closed. First-party
_ga Analytics 24 months Google Analytics. Distinguishes unique visitors. Only placed with analytics consent. Third-party (Google)
_ga_* Analytics 24 months Google Analytics 4 measurement ID container. Only placed with analytics consent. Third-party (Google)
_gid Analytics 24 hours Google Analytics. Distinguishes users within a 24-hour window. Third-party (Google)
kr_pref_font Preference 6 months Stores user display preference (font size) if adjusted via accessibility controls. First-party
kr_pref_mode Preference 6 months Stores user display mode preference if a colour scheme toggle is used. First-party

Kalnore Review does not currently use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or social media tracking pixels. If this changes, this policy will be updated and users will be notified through the consent banner mechanism.

04 — Legal Basis

Consent and Legitimate Interest

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, we are required to obtain consent before placing any cookie that is not strictly necessary for the processing of the service you have requested.

Strictly necessary cookies (those in the Functional category above, specifically kr_consent and kr_session) are placed on the basis of legitimate interest, as they are required for the site to function correctly. No consent is required for these.

Analytics and preference cookies are placed only after you explicitly provide consent via the cookie consent banner. You may change your preference at any time by selecting "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page.

The legal basis for processing personal data collected through analytics cookies is your consent, documented at the point of acceptance. This is consistent with Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR.

05 — Managing Your Preferences

How to Control Cookies

You have several mechanisms available for managing cookies on kalnore.info:

  1. Consent banner: On your first visit, a banner is displayed at the bottom of the page. You may accept all cookies, accept only partial analytics, or accept functional cookies only. Your choice is stored in kr_consent.
  2. Cookie Settings link: Accessible in the footer of every page. Selecting this re-opens the consent banner so you can revise your preference at any time.
  3. Browser settings: All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings menus. Note that blocking functional cookies will affect your experience (the consent banner will reappear on every visit, for instance).
  4. Browser extensions: Tools such as uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, and similar extensions provide granular control over which third-party resources may load on any given page.

Guidance on managing cookies in common browsers:

  • Google Chrome — Cookie settings
  • Mozilla Firefox — Cookie preferences
  • Apple Safari — Cookie management
  • Microsoft Edge — Cookie management

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

06 — Third-Party Services

Embedded and External Services

Some pages on kalnore.info embed content or load resources from third-party providers. These third parties may set their own cookies independently. The most significant of these are:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC): Used to collect aggregated, anonymised data on how visitors interact with the publication. Data is processed in accordance with Google's data processing terms. IP anonymisation is enabled. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts (Google LLC): Typefaces used on this site are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. This may result in your IP address being transmitted to Google's servers. We have configured preconnect to minimise latency. No cookies are set by Google Fonts.
  • Google Maps (Google LLC): Our contact page embeds a static map showing our London address. When you view that page, a request is made to Google's servers. Google may set cookies if you interact with the map. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • jsDelivr / unpkg CDN: JavaScript libraries (Swiper, AOS, Fancybox, etc.) are loaded from public CDN endpoints. These CDNs do not set tracking cookies and are used solely for performance.

Kalnore Review is not responsible for the cookie practices of these third-party services. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of each provider directly.

07 — Retention and Deletion

How Long Cookies Are Kept

Cookie retention periods are listed in the inventory table in Section 03. In general:

  • Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Functional cookies (consent records) are retained for up to 12 months, after which the consent banner will reappear on your next visit.
  • Analytics cookies follow the retention periods set by the respective third-party provider. For Google Analytics, this is currently 24 months from the date of the last interaction.

You may delete all cookies at any time via your browser settings, independent of these retention periods.

08 — Policy Updates

Changes to This Policy

Kalnore Review reviews this Cookie Policy periodically and whenever the site's technical infrastructure changes in a way that affects cookie usage. Material changes — for example, the addition of new third-party services — will be communicated by updating the "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, re-displaying the consent banner.

Continued use of the site following a policy update constitutes acknowledgement of the revised policy. Where consent is required for any new category of cookie, it will be sought afresh.
